Editorial Policy

How our articles are written, reviewed, sourced, and corrected.

Last updated: July 26, 2026

Why we publish this policy

Insurance articles influence real decisions about protecting homes, vehicles, and businesses. Readers deserve to know how this content gets made, who stands behind it, and what happens when something needs correcting. This page explains exactly that.

Who writes and reviews our articles

Every article on this blog is written and reviewed by the team at Florida First Insurance of Broward, Inc., an independent insurance agency based in Hollywood, Florida that has served Florida families and businesses for over 25 years. Articles are bylined "By Florida First" because they are a team effort: drafted from our day-to-day casework and reviewed by a licensed insurance agent before publishing. You can read more about the team on our About the Authors page.

How we source our information

Our articles draw on the Florida Statutes, bulletins and orders from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, FEMA and National Flood Insurance Program guidance, official carrier bulletins, and our own experience quoting policies and assisting with claims every day. When an article depends on a specific law or program rule, we aim to describe it as it stands on the article's publication date.

Independence and compensation

As an independent agency, we earn commissions from the insurance carriers we place coverage with. No carrier pays us to be mentioned, recommended, or reviewed on this blog, and no article is sponsored content. When we name carriers or programs (such as Citizens), it is because they are relevant to the topic — not because of compensation.

Use of writing tools

We may use software tools, including AI-assisted tools, to help draft or edit articles. Every article is fact-checked and approved by our licensed team before it is published. Responsibility for accuracy rests with us, not with any tool.

Updates and corrections

Florida's insurance market changes quickly — legislation, rates, and carrier programs shift every year. Each article shows its publication date, and we update or annotate articles when material facts change. If you spot an error, call us at 877-FL-INS-ME (877-354-6763) or use the quote form on any page to reach us, and we will review and correct it promptly.
